The September Dessert Revel was a Newcomers Revel, meant to greet new people coming from Mapleside Demo as well as other places. I got to wear both hats: we had our first Cooks Challenge of the season, and there was dancing.
The September Cook’s Challenge: Apples and Pears had several entries, many of them products of the Scappi project.
A tourte of pears (from Scappi), Karin Strippel
Pippin Tarts, James Pretzer
Apple-Pear Cobbler; Ellen Robinson
Sops for Pears (from Scappi); Debbie Senger
A pie of Pears (from Scappi), Corrie Bergeron
A flawn of apples; Cherie Mandel
Perys in Confyt (from Curie in Inglysche); Angharad Ferch Tangwystl
Ginevra and I led some dancing: We did Bransle Pinagay, Bransle Montarde, and Bransle Lavandierse, followed by Petit Rose. We then tried Mannschaft Pavane, but it broke down right in the middle with the exchanges. People were pretty cool about just dancing from where they wound up, but I’m thinking it might be good to practice that one a few times when we can get people.
